Carlos Garcia ID’d as 12-Year-Old Boy Killed in Livermore Crash on Interstate 580 near Airway Boulevard

Livermore, California (September 23, 2020) – The Alameda County coroner’s bureau has released the name of the boy who was killed Monday in a traffic accident in Livermore.
Carlos Alberto Garcia, 12, of Manteca in San Joaquin County, died in the crash that happened at about 1:20 p.m. Monday, September 21, on Interstate 580 near Airway Boulevard.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a Chevrolet Tahoe was heading westbound on Interstate 580 Freeway when, for unknown reasons, it collided with a big rig.
Due to the impact, the Chevrolet rolled over, ejecting Garcia and another child from the vehicle.

Garcia was pronounced dead at the scene while the other child was hospitalized with major injuries.
The operator of the big rig was not injured.
No further details about the crash were immediately provided.
The accident remains under investigation by the CHP.
