Candace Parks Killed in Oakland Collision on Interstate 580 near Lakeshore Avenue

Oakland, California (May 9, 2020) – Candace Parks, 8, was among two children killed in a multi-vehicle collision on Thursday morning in Oakland, according to the authorities.

The wreck happened just before 11:30 a.m. May 7, on Interstate 580 just east of Lakeshore Avenue.

According to the report, a white Honda Accord lost control and slammed into the rear of a white Ford F-250 that was parked in the center divide.

Two Caltrans employees were outside the Ford doing maintenance work.

The Honda was then hit by a white Toyota Sienna minivan.

Two children, Parks and her half-sibling Elijah Naidu, 13, both of Oakland, were riding in the Honda and were both killed in the crash. A third child was hospitalized with moderate injuries.

The children’s mother was driving the Honda and was hospitalized with major injuries.

Alcohol and drugs were not believed to be factors in the collision.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
