Cameron Gomez and Kadyn Gomez Sustains Major Injuries in Apple Valley Car Accident on Bear Valley Road near Pawnee Road

Apple Valley, California (March 7, 2019) – Two local teenagers were seriously injured Tuesday evening in a traffic accident involving a vehicle and tractor-trailer in Apple Valley, authorities said.
The crash happened at around 5:04 p.m. Tuesday, March 5 on Bear Valley Road, just east of Pawnee Road.
According to the authorities, Cameron Gomez, 17, was driving a 2005 Toyota Corolla eastbound on Bear Valley Road when he allowed his vehicle to veer into oncoming traffic and collided with an Apex powder truck that was heading westbound.
The tractor-trailer partially turned over while the Toyota sustained major damage as a result of the collision.
Firefighters along with paramedics responded to the scene and extricated Cameron Gomez from the wrecked vehicle.
Cameron Gomez and his brother, Kadyn Gomez, 13, suffered major life-threatening injuries and were airlifted to nearby trauma centers, where they were listed in stable but critical condition.
Ronald Brown, 65, who was the driver of the Apex tractor-trailer, was not injured.
Investigators determined that Cameron Gomez was possibly affected by fatigue and fell asleep while driving.
Authorities said Speed, alcohol and drugs were not a factor in the accident. Anyone with information regarding the accident is asked to call Deputy M. Cashion at the Apple Valley Sheriff’s Station at 760-240-7000.
