Caltrans Worker Airlifted after Merced Crash on Martin Luther King Jr. Way

Merced, California (June 10, 2020) – The authorities are investigating a hit-and-run collision that left a Caltrans worker injured early Wednesday morning in Merced.
According to the Merced Police Department, the incident occurred at around 2:49 a.m. June 9, in the 1300 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Way.
Police said a 29-year-old Caltrans worker was in the northbound lanes of Martin Luther King Jr. Way setting up a cone pattern when he was hit by a northbound vehicle.

The worker sustained a broken leg and was airlifted to a Modesto hospital.
The involved driver fled from the scene after the accident.
Authorities believe the suspect was driving a silver four-door Volkswagen sedan, a 2006-2010 model year. The vehicle is also believed to have sustained damage to the driver’s side.
The investigation is ongoing.
