Butte County, CA: Fatal Auto-Pedestrian Crash on Highway 99

Butte County, California (February 4, 2019) – A man was struck and killed by a vehicle in Butte County on Saturday night, according to the CHP.

The accident happened at about 11:45 p.m. February 2 on Highway 99, just north of the Butte/Sutter County line.

CHP said a man was driving southbound on Highway 99 when his car broke down and he pulled to the side. A friend also pulled to the side to assist the stranded driver.

The authorities said the two then tried to cross the highway and an oncoming 2008 Toyota slammed into the stranded driver.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The friend was not struck and was unhurt in the accident.

The CHP is investigating the crash.
