Brian Nepinsky ID’d as 1 of 2 Killed in Sequoia National Park Plane Crash near Upper Horse Creek

Sequoia National Park, California (September 10, 2020) – One of the people who died when a plane crashed Saturday morning into the Sequoia National Park Tulare County has been identified as Brian Christopher Nepinsky, 35.
Authorities said the plane, a single-engine Beechcraft BE35 Bonanza, was set to take off from Visalia Airport at around 11:00 a.m. Friday and was scheduled to land at 1:00 p.m. at Needles Airport in San Bernardino County, but the plane never arrived.
Just after 9:30 a.m. Saturday, the authorities located the plane crash near the Upper Horse Creek drainage in Mineral King wilderness. It remained unknown what caused the plane to crash.
Authorities said the plane crash sparked a fire that burned approximately a half-acre in size. Firefighters responded to the scene and contained the fire.
Nepinsky and another occupant of the plane were killed in the accident.
No further details about the crash were given.
The accident remains under investigation.
