Braden Jockmyhn ID’d as Man Killed in La Mesa Car Crash on University Avenue

La Mesa, California (July 29, 2021) – The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the man who died after a vehicle crashed into a building in La Mesa on Wednesday evening as Braden Jockmyhn, 41.
The fatal crash occurred at around 5:31 p.m. Wednesday, July 28, in the 7300 block of University Avenue.
Authorities said an SUV was heading eastbound on University Avenue when, for unknown reasons, the driver allowed the vehicle to drift off the roadway and went up the south sidewalk.
The vehicle then slammed into a commercial building in the area. The vehicle reportedly crashed through the glass windows and interior and struck Jockmyhn, who was inside the building.
An officer traveling behind the driver saw the incident and called for medical help.
Man Killed in La Mesa Car Crash on University Avenue
Jockmyhn was pronounced dead at the scene, despite life-saving measures performed by the medical personnel.
The driver of the vehicle, a 60-year-old man, was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
It’s unclear whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the collision.
The La Mesa Police Department is investigating the incident.
