Boyle Heights, California (January 10, 2019) – A woman was critically injured after an alleged hit-and-run collision Sunday evening in the area of Boyle Heights, Los Angeles County, according to a local news source.

The accident happened at around 6:40 p.m. Sunday, January 6, at Whittier Boulevard and Lorena Street.

As per the report, a 35-year-old woman of Colombia was crossing Whittier Boulevard when for an unknown reason she was hit by a vehicle. The victim was reportedly in a marked crosswalk when the collision happened.

Emergency crews along with paramedics responded to the scene and found the pedestrian lying in the roadway. She was rushed to a local hospital for treatment of severe head injuries. The woman whose name was not immediately released was listed in a critical condition at the hospital.

Officials said that the involved driver did not stop to render aid and fled north on Lorena Street. The suspect vehicle described as a dark-colored SUV; possibly a Ford Explorer was last seen driving onto the eastbound 60 Freeway.
