52-Year-Old Big Bar Man Dies in Trinity County Crash on Highway 299 between Big Bar and Big Flat

Trinity County, California (April 11, 2021) – A driver was killed after a vehicle went into the Trinity River in Trinity County Saturday morning, according to a California Highway Patrol report.
The deadly crash happened at about 8:14 a.m. Saturday, April 10 on Highway 299 between Big Bar and Big Flat.
A 52-year-old Big Bar man was driving a 2005 Jeep Cherokee westbound on Highway 299 at an unspecified speed when the right tires of the Jeep veered onto the north gravel shoulder, the CHP report states.
The driver over-corrected toward the left and the Jeep went across the eastbound lane. The Jeep then plunged into the Trinity River near the north shore.
The driver died in the accident. His name has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
It is undetermined if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash.
