Bicyclist Dead in Mono County Crash Friday

Mono County, California (March 30, 2019) – A bicyclist was struck and killed by a vehicle Friday morning northeast of Bishop, Mono County, according to a to California Highway Patrol.

The fatal wreck occurred at around 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 29 on U.S. 6 and Chalfant Loop Road, approximately 12 miles from Bishop.

As per the CHP report, the bicyclist was traveling northbound on U.S. 6 in the bicycle lane when it turned in front of a Chevrolet Impala that was heading eastbound on U.S. 6 at about 50 miles per hour. The bicyclist was then hit the Impala.

Bicyclist Fatally Hit by Car in Mono County

The bicyclist, who has not been identified pending notification of next of kin, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Further details were not immediately available, and the crash remains under investigation.
