2 Women Seriously Injured in Benicia Crash on Interstate 680 at Benicia Bridge

Benicia, California (March 26, 2021) – Two women in their 50s were seriously injured Friday afternoon in a single-vehicle crash on the Benicia Bridge, according to a local news source.
The major injury collision was reported at about 2:34 p.m. on Interstate 680 near the edge of the bridge, authorities said.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a vehicle reportedly slammed into the side rail of the bridge.

Firefighters along with the paramedics responded to the scene and extricated two women who were trapped in the vehicle.
Both patients were then taken to the John Muir Health Trauma Center for treatment of major injuries and head trauma. The names of the victims and conditions were not immediately disclosed.
All southbound lanes of Interstate 680 were closed while the investigation and cleanup took place.
No other details about the crash were immediately available.
