1 Critically Hurt in Barstow Car Accident on Interstate 15 near Minneola Road
Barstow, California (August 31, 2020) – Authorities are investigating the cause of a major injury single-vehicle crash that happened Sunday morning in Barstow.
On August 30, at about 11:53 a.m., officers received a crash report involving a single car on the southbound Interstate 15 (Barstow Freeway) near the Minneola Road off-ramp.
A black sedan driven by a male party reportedly rolled over onto the interstate’s right-hand dirt shoulder in unclear circumstances.
Due to the impact, the male operator was ejected from the car.
Major Injury Barstow Car Accident on Interstate 15
A couple of Good Samaritans located the man partially covered by part of the bumper on top of him. The motorist was flown to a trauma hospital by a Mercy Air helicopter for treatment of critical injuries.
Meanwhile, a passenger riding in the sedan was rescued from the wreckage by first responders. The passenger appeared disoriented, confused, agitated, and eventually started running southbound away from the crash site on foot.
A CHP helicopter arrived in the area shortly after the wreck and helped in locating the male passenger
The suspect was later located and arrested before being taken into custody.
The accident remains under investigation by the CHP.
