Barstow, California (January 9, 2019) – A pedestrian was severely injured after an alleged hit-and-run pedestrian accident Sunday evening in the area of the Barstow, according to a local news source.

The accident happened at around 6:30 p.m. Sunday, January 6, in the 800 block of South Muriel Drive near Cameron Park and Cameron Elementary School.

As per the report, a male pedestrian was struck by a vehicle for unknown reasons near Carson Street.

Responding firefighters along with paramedics found the man lying unresponsive in the roadway suffering from severe head trauma and multiple injuries to his lower limbs following the collision.

He was flown to Loma Linda University Medical Center where he was listed in a critical but stable condition. The victim’s name was not immediately released.

Officials said that involved driver did not stop after the crash and he fled the scene. The suspect vehicle was later located at a mobile home park in the 600 block of Rimrock Road.

Authorities arrested the suspect, 24-year-old Brittany Blake on suspicion of felony hit-and-run with injuries. She remains in custody at the High Desert Detention Center with a bail set at $50,000.

Motorists are required by law to decrease speed and give the right way to pedestrians walking in marked and unmarked crosswalks. It is unclear if the victim was walking in a safe area along the highway.
