1 Killed in Bakersfield Pedestrian Accident on Highway 85 near Mount Vernon Avenue
Bakersfield, California (October 12, 2020) – A pedestrian was hit and killed by a semi-truck on Sunday night in Bakersfield, authorities said.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly pedestrian accident transpired at about 8:00 p.m., on October 11, on eastbound Highway 85 near Mount Vernon Avenue.
The CHP said the big rig struck the pedestrian on the highway in unclear circumstances.
Following the collision, the semi continued driving eastbound and stopped a short distance later, officials said.
Fatal Pedestrian Accident on Highway 58
Sadly, the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
Another vehicle is believed to have also struck the pedestrian before the arrival of the CHP.
Eastbound lanes of Highway 58 were closed for an unknown period due to the accident.
More details about the accident were not immediately available.
The crash remains under investigation.
