Passenger Killed, Driver Injured in Bakersfield Motorcycle Crash on Kern Canyon Road

Bakersfield, California (October 22, 2020) – A juvenile passenger of a motorcycle was killed and the driver was hospitalized Wednesday evening after a traffic accident in Bakersfield, according to authorities.
The deadly motorcycle collision occurred shortly before 6:45 p.m. Wednesday, October 21, in the 9100 block of Kern Canyon Road.
Police said a 51-year-old man was riding his motorcycle on Kern Canyon Road when, for undetermined reasons, he lost control of the bike and crashed on the roadway.

A 12-year-old boy, who was riding as a passenger in the motorcycle, was declared dead at the scene. His name was withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The driver of the motorcycle sustained moderate injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
Speed was considered a factor in the collision.
