Elderly Woman Injured in Bakersfield Crash on Ashe Road near Harris Road
Bakersfield, California (February 16, 2021) – An elderly woman was injured Monday night in a traffic accident in Bakersfield, according to a local news source.
The crash, which involved two vehicles, happened around 9:50 p.m. Monday, February 15, on Ashe Road, just south of Harris Road.
Authorities said the elderly woman was attempting to turn when her silver minivan became disabled in a center median.
Moments later, a red Acura SUV reportedly crashed into the disabled minivan, which had its headlights or emergency lights turned off.
The driver of the minivan then exited the vehicle to check the damage. In the process, the driver slipped due to some auto fluid and hit her head on the median.
The minivan driver sustained moderate injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Her name and condition were not immediately disclosed.
The driver of the Acura was uninjured in the crash. According to the police, the Acura was allegedly an unsold vehicle from a nearby dealer.
It was not immediately clear whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
