1 Hospitalized after Bakersfield Car Crash on Vineland Road near Panama Lane
Bakersfield, California (July 10, 2020) – One person was hospitalized after an alleged DUI crash on Friday morning in Bakersfield, authorities said.
At around 3:05 a.m., the California Highway Patrol responded to the two-car accident on Vineland Road near Panama Lane.
As per the CHP report, a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed was driving southbound on Vineland Road approaching Panama Lane when, for unknown reasons, it ran through a red light at the intersection.
The vehicle reportedly struck another car that was driving eastbound on Panama Lane, causing it to flip on its side and block lanes on the roadway, the officials said.

One driver was taken to Kern Medical Center for treatment. The other driver did not require medical attention.
Intoxication was believed to have played a role in the mishap.

The crash remains under investigation.
