Austin Waters Identified as Rio Linda Man Killed in Sacramento Pedestrian Accident on Interstate 5 near Richards Boulevard
Sacramento, California (February 28, 2021) – Austin Waters, a 24-year-old Rio Linda, has been identified as the male pedestrian who was hit and killed by a vehicle early Wednesday morning in Sacramento, authorities said.
The deadly pedestrian accident happened at around 5:30 a.m., on February 24, on Interstate 5, just north of Richards Boulevard, the California Highway Patrol reported.
According to the CHP, Waters was walking across southbound lanes from the center median towards the right shoulder when he was struck by a Lexus that was traveling between 60 to 70 miles per hour.

Waters was thrown into the far-right lane. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Lexus driver remained at the scene and was cooperative, authorities. It is undetermined whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision.
