Cotati, California (November 19, 2020) – 55-year-old Augustus Staton has been identified as the Cotati male party who died following a pedestrian accident Monday afternoon in Cotati.

The fatal pedestrian accident happened at approximately 12:30 p.m. November 16, at Myrtle Avenue and Macklin Drive.

Staton was hit by a commercial van while walking his dog near the outside of Helen Putnam Park.

The van was heading westbound near Old Redwood Highway at the time of the collision.

Augustus Staton Fatal Cotati Pedestrian Crash 

Staton was declared dead at the scene while his dog survived death.

Police affirmed the Dr. Handyman van operator remained at the scene after hitting Staton.

Meanwhile, the wreck resulted in the closure of Myrtle Avenue and Macklin Drive up to around 4:30 p.m. 

An investigation into the accident is underway.
