68-Year-Old Auburn Woman Killed in Auburn Crash on Highway 49 at Joeger Road

Auburn, California (January 10, 2020) – Authorities are investigating a deadly head-on collision that claimed a life of a 68-year-old Auburn woman Friday morning.
The deadly collision happened at around 8:15 a.m. January 10, on Grass Valley Highway (49) at Joeger Road, just north of Elders Coroner in Placer County.
As per the CHP officials, an Auburn woman drove a Honda Accord out of a private road and made a left turn onto the highway. A 78-year-old driver in a Kia Sportage SUV drove northbound at 55-60 mph and swerved right to avoid crashing into the Accord, but she hit the Honda’s left side.
Fatal Crash at Grass Valley Highway (49)
The impact caused the SUV to overturn and land on its roof.
Firefighters arrived at the scene and freed the two motorists from their cars. The two patients were transported to Sutter Roseville Medical Center for treatment.
The Auburn woman did not survive and was declared dead at the hospital. The SUV driver suffered minor injuries following the accident.
Officials did not suspect drugs or alcohol to be factors in the collision.
An investigation is ongoing.
