Aubree Hardy Killed in Tractor-Trailer Crash on Interstate 10 in Ontario

Ontario, California (June 17, 2020) – The San Bernardino County Coroner’s office has identified the child who died along with two other people Tuesday morning in Ontario as Aubree Hardy, 5, of San Dimas.

The fatal crash happened at around 9:28 a.m. June 16 in the number 3 lane of Interstate 10 Freeway, just west of Haven Avenue.

Authorities said a 2011 Volvo tractor hauling a semi-trailer was heading eastbound on Interstate 10 when, for unknown reasons, it slammed into the back of a 2002 Chrysler Voyager van that was stopped for traffic ahead. The Voyager was directly behind a 2015 Volvo tractor towing a semi-trailer.

The force of the impact pushed the Voyager into the rear trailer of the 2015 Volvo tractor.

A witness told the police that the 2011 Volvo was traveling at approximately 6o miles per hour and did not appear to be trying to stop prior to the crash.

All three people in the Voyager, Aubree Hardy, Aaron Hardy, 25, of Fontana and Rachel Miller, 27, of San Dimas, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the 2011 Volvo tractor was transported to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center with moderate injuries.

The California Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
