Los Angeles, California (July 21, 2021) – A pedestrian was struck and killed by a Union Pacific train Tuesday night in the Atwater Village neighbourhood in Los Angeles, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The collision was reported at around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 20, in the 5331 block of West San Fernando Road.

The Los Angeles Fire Department said the train hit the pedestrian under unclear circumstances on the railroad tracks.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders. The name of the victim has not been disclosed pending notification of next of kin.

Authorities closed Union Pacific tracks in both directions while they conduct an investigation.
