Fairfield, California (May 10, 2019) – A 22-year-old Fairfield woman was among drivers injured in a fatal chain-reaction accident that occurred on Wednesday afternoon in Fairfield, according to a local news source.

The deadly wreck was reported at about 3:22 p.m. May 8, in the area of Highway 12 and Beck Avenue.

According to the CHP,  four cars were stopped at a red light in the No. 1 Lane of eastbound State Highway 12 at Beck Avenue when, for an unknown reason, a Volkswagen Passat was  rear-ended by a white Mercedes Benz van.

The Volkswagen was pushed into the back of a gray Hyundai sedan, which then struck a BMW sedan. The BMW in turn rear-ended an Audi sedan.

Riley was identified as the driver of the Audi. She and two other drivers suffered  minor injuries.

The driver of the Volkswagen was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Mercedes was transported to Kaiser Permanente Vacaville with moderate injuries.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
