Byron, California (December 1, 2020) – A 19-year-old Antioch man was killed in a head-on car crash that left a 49-year-old Brentwood man injured on Tuesday morning in Byron, according to a local news source.

The deadly two-vehicle accident happened at about 3:45 a.m. on Vasco Road, south of the intersection with Walnut Boulevard.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2008 Chevrolet HHR was traveling northbound on Vasco Road when it drifted into the path of a southbound 2015 Ford F-150, driven by the Brentwood man.

The Brentwood man was unable to avoid the Chevrolet, and the two vehicles collided causing significant damage to both vehicles, the officials said.

Sadly, the 19-year-old Antioch man, who was the driver of the Chevrolet, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 49-year-old Brentwood man sustained moderate injuries and was transported to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek for treatment.

It was not clear if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the mishap.
