Antioch, California (July 29, 2021) – One person was airlifted to the hospital after a traffic collision that happened Thursday morning in Antioch, the California Highway Patrol said.

CHP said the wreck involved two vehicles and occurred just after 7:00 a.m. on eastbound Highway 4, near Hillcrest Avenue off-ramp.

A tan Toyota Camry collided with another car under unclear circumstances.

Firefighters responded to the scene and requested a Calfire helicopter to airlift one driver who was pinned inside their car with major injuries.

All eastbound traffic lanes were blocked to allow the air ambulance to land. The helicopter departed at 7:41 a.m., and all lanes were reopened shortly after.

The report did not mention the cause of the crash, but authorities are investigating.
