Buchanan, California (September 11, 2020) – Anthony Buscemi, 26, of Pacheco, has been identified as the man who was arrested after a hit-and-run accident that killed a female pedestrian on Saturday morning in Buchanan, according to the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office

The crash happened just before 1:15 a.m., on September 5, in the 5000 block of Marsh Drive.

According to the CHP, a car, driven by Buscemi, struck Shelly Stevens, 35, of Lafayette, in unclear circumstances.

First responders arrived at the scene and found Stevens lying down the roadway and a vehicle nearby that appeared involved, the officials said.

Sadly, Stevens was pronounced dead at the scene.

Buscemi fled the scene and was later arrested and booked into Martinez county jail on Tuesday, September 8, for gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and driving under the influence of alcohol, causing injury. His bail is set at $300,000 bail.

More details about the accident were not immediately available.
