Civilian Traffic Control Assistant Hurt, Jose Alfredo Garcia Arrested after Anaheim Crash on West La Palma Avenue

Anaheim, California (March 10, 2019) – An Anaheim Civilian Traffic Control Assistant was hospitalized with major injuries after she was struck by a suspected DUI driver on Saturday afternoon, according to the authorities.
The incident occurred at about 1:21 p.m. March 9, in the 1900 block of West La Palma Avenue near the Servite High School.
According to the Anaheim police, the woman was seated in a marked traffic vehicle conducting traffic control when a Blue 2017 Toyota Tundra rear-ended her vehicle. The patrol vehicle was blocking the westbound No. 2 Lane of La Palma Avenue when the incident happened.
The impact if the collision ejected the woman from the traffic vehicle.
The victim was rushed to a trauma center in critical condition.
The driver of the Toyota, identified as Jose Alfredo Alcantar Garcia, 34, of Placentia, was arrested on charges including felony DUI causing great bodily injuries, possession of methamphetamine for sale, transportation of methamphetamine and driving while license suspended.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
