Ampelio Padilla ID’d as Person Injured in Fatal Stanislaus County Truck Crash on Hammett Road near Covert Road
Stanislaus County, California (October 9, 2020) – Ampelio Padilla has been identified as the victim who was injured in a Friday afternoon truck accident that killed a 36-year-old Modesto man in Stanislaus County, authorities said.
At about 1:30 p.m., the California Highway Patrol responded to the deadly wrong-way crash on Hammett Road near Covert Road.
According to the CHP, a Ford SUV, driven by the Modesto man, drifted into the southbound lane and crashed into the front end of a Flory Shuttle Truk, operated by Ampelio Padilla.

The Modesto man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Padilla was taken to Memorial Medical Center with moderate injuries.
It was not clear if intoxication was a factor in the mishap.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
