50-Year-Old Alexander Merz Injured in Johnson Valley Head-On Collision Near Olivine Road
Johnson Valley, California (May 20, 2019) –50-year-old Alexander Merz has been identified as one of the drivers critically injured in a head-on crash in Johnson Valley Thursday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The two-vehicle collision was reported at around 4:40 p.m. May 16, Near Olivine Road.
As per the CHP reports, the accident occurred when a Ford F-150 pick-up truck driven by Wilson southbound on Old Woman Springs Road moved into the northbound lane to pass traffic. The truck crashed head-on with a 2018 Nissan Versa which was traveling northbound on Old Woman Springs Road. The driver of the Nissan was identified as a 50-year-old Alexander Merz.
The crash resulted in minor injuries to Wilson. Merz sustained significant injuries following the wreck. The two victims were attended to by the emergency responders who arrived at the scene shortly after the collision. Merz was airlifted to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs while Wilson was taken to Desert Regional by ground ambulance for further evaluation.
The detectives handling the case are still gathering more details and information to precisely determine why the accident happened.
