Alex Garza ID’d as Man Killed in San Diego Trolley Crash at 60th Street and Imperial Avenue
San Diego, California (October 1, 2020) – The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the driver who died when his vehicle was struck by a trolley late Monday night at an intersection in the Valencia Park area of San Diego as Alex Garza, 21, of San Diego.
The deadly accident occurred at around 11:45 p.m. Monday, September 28, at the intersection of 60th Street and Imperial Avenue, just east of Valencia Parkway.
Authorities said Garza was driving his Toyota Prius southbound on 60th Street, approaching Imperial Avenue when he drove past crossing arms and was hit by a trolley that was heading eastbound.
After the impact, the Toyota spun out of control and became pinned against a pole.

Garza was declared deceased at the scene of the accident. He was the sole occupant of the vehicle, authorities said.
