Alejanro Mata-Torres ID’d as Man Killed in Madera Pedestrian Crash on Owens Street near Wilson Street
Madera, California (January 13, 2019) – The man who was struck and killed by a vehicle on Monday evening in Madera has been identified as Alejanro Mata-Torres, 31, of Madera, according to the Madera Police Department.
The accident occurred at about 6:20 p.m. January 7 on Owens Street south of Wilson Street.
Police said Mata-Torres may have been walking towards Cleveland or Gateway and talking or looking into his phone when he was hit by a car driven by a 50-year-old Madera woman.
The responding officers located Mata-Torres in the middle of the road near the vehicle involved.
Police said Mata-Torres was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene of the crash.
Alcohol and drugs were unlikely factors in the incident.
Police are investigating the crash.
