Albert Figurelli Killed, Sandi Ferguson Injured in Pollock Pines Crash at Pony Express Trail near Gilmore Road

Pollock Pines, California (January 3, 2019) – A 63-year-old Albert R. Figurelli of Pollock Pines has been identified as the pickup driver killed in a traffic collision Wednesday afternoon in the area of Pollock Pines, according to a California Highway Patrol report.
The accident was reported at around 3:09 p.m. Wednesday, at 5649 Pony Express Trail near Gilmore Road.
As per the report, Figurelli was driving his 2000 Dodge 1500 pickup truck recklessly in the eastbound lane of Pony Express Trail. He then crossed over the double yellow lines for unknown reasons and crashed head-on into an El Dorado County Transit bus driven by 50-year-old Sandi M. Ferguson of Placerville. The pickup truck overturned and blocked the roadway following the collision.
Responding officers confirmed that Figurelli died as a result of the collision. Ferguson, the 2017 GLLC transit bus driver, reportedly suffered a broken left hand and was transported to Marshall Hospital in Placerville for treatment.
Authorities closed Pony Express Trail for two-and-a-half hours to give way to an on-scene investigation.
Officials said that drugs and or alcohol might have contributed to the collision.
An investigation is underway.
