Abel Soto Fatal Pedestrian Accident at Highway 74 and Menifee Road in Menifee
Abel Soto ID’d as Man Killed in Menifee Pedestrian Crash at Highway 74 and Menifee Road
Menifee, California (February 16, 2019) – The pedestrian who was struck and killed by a vehicle on Thursday evening in Menifee has been identified as Abel Soto, 25, of Corona, according to the authorities.
The incident was reported at about 5:38 p.m. February 14 at Highway 74 and Menifee Road.
Authorities said Soto was driving eastbound when he pulled over after he spotted a dog in the roadway. He then got out of his vehicle to remove the dog from the road and as he crossed the westbound lanes of the highway, he was hit by a westbound car.
Soto died at the scene of the accident.
The driver who struck Soto, identified as a 19-year-old Hemet man, remained at the scene. He was taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
Police said alcohol and drugs were unlikely factors in the incident.
The accident is under investigation.
