Daniel Robinson Killed in Bicycle Accident on Modoc Road in Santa Barbara
Daniel Robinson ID’d as Bicyclist Killed in Santa Barbara Crash on Modoc Road at Encore Drive
Santa Barbara, California (July 9, 2019) –The bicyclist who was struck and killed by a vehicle early Friday morning in Santa Barbara has been identified as Daniel Robinson, 54, according to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Coroner’s Bureau.
The fatal bicycle accident took place at around 12:30 a.m. Friday, July 5, on Modoc Road at Encore Drive, approximately quarter mile south of Hollister Avenue.
The California Highway Patrol said Robinson was riding his bicycle westbound on Modoc Road when he was hit by a Ford Explorer that was being driven westbound by Monique Martinez, 48, of Santa Barbara.
Robinson was ejected from the bike upon the impact.
Bicyclist Killed in Modoc Road Crash Identified
Robinson, who lived a transient lifestyle in Santa Barbara Area, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a helmet and did not have a lighting device on his bike.
Martinez stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigators. Neither Drugs nor alcohol was suspected factors in the collision.
The authorities are investigating the incident.
