San Luis Obispo, California (June 13, 2019) – A Cal Poly student, Nicole Scalone, 22, of Bellevue, Washington, has been identified as one of the two people who were killed early Wednesday morning in a wrong-way crash in San Luis Obispo.

The tragic accident happened at about 6:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 12 on Highway 101 near Higuera Street.

According to reports, Scalone was driving southbound on northbound Highway 101 in the No. 1 lane when her Ford Fiesta collided head-on with a Honda Civic driven by a 43-year-old Los Osos man.

Scalone and the driver of the Honda Civic were killed in the accident.

The name of the other driver has not yet been disclosed.

It is undetermined if distracted driving, drugs or alcohol were factors in the accident. The CHP is investigating the crash.
