14-Year-Old Boy Killed in Lemon Grove Pedestrian Crash near San Miguel Avenue and Sunnyvale Street
Lemon Grove, California (May 3, 2019) – A-14-year-old boy was hit and killed by a car in Lemon Grove Friday night, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.
The fatal accident was reported at about 6:19 p.m. May 3, on San Miguel Ave, Sunnyvale.
The accident occurred when a car driven by a female driver hit the boy near Sunnyvale Street in front of the San Miguel Elementary School. The boy ran from the front yard between two parked cars and fell forward into the street after sliding on loose gravel at the time of the collision. An initial report showed that the mother was turning the car around to pick him before the accident happened.
The boy sustained severe head injuries following the wreck. He was rushed to Rady Children’s Hospital where he was sadly pronounced dead.
The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the authorities’ investigation.
The officials believed that drugs or alcohol are not the cause of the fatal collision.
Meanwhile, the investigation is still underway.
