Burney, California (May 1, 2019) – A 28-year-old man was among several other people injured in a crash involving a Forest Service truck on Tuesday evening in Burney, according a local news source.

The wreck happened at about 5:12 p.m. April 30, on Highway 299 near Fir Street.

CHP said  a woman from McArthur driving a 1996 Lexus when she, for unknown reasons, drifted into the path of oncoming traffic and collided head-on with the Forest Service truck, a 2008 International.

The impact caused the truck to overturn onto the embankment.

The Lexus driver and one passenger in the service truck were taken to Mercy Medical Center in Redding with major injuries. Another passenger in the service truck who suffered major injuries was taken to Shasta Regional Medical Center in Redding.

Jon Lindquist, 28, and seven other occupants of the truck, including the driver, were taken to local hospitals with minor injuries.

The CHP is investigating the crash.
