Merced County, California (April 19, 2019) – One person was hospitalized Friday evening after a traffic accident involving three vehicles in Los Banos, authorities said.

The wreck took place at about 4:48 p.m. at the intersection of Mercey Springs Road and East B Street. Mercey Springs Road is also known as Highway 165.

According to the authorities, a van was stopped at a stop sign on southbound Mercey Springs Road at the intersection with East B Street and followed by a pickup truck.

For an unknown reason, the pickup truck was then struck by a sedan, causing a chain reaction collision.

One person sustained minor injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital. The name and condition of the patient at this time remained unknown.

Alcohol or drugs were not suspected factors in the accident.

The crash remains under investigation.
