Officer Injured in Motorcycle Accident on Interstate 880 in Hayward
East Bay Regional Park District Police Officer Injured in Interstate 880 Crash near Alvarado Niles Road Off-Ramp

Hayward, California (April 12, 2019) – An East Bay Regional Park District motorcycle officer was hospitalized Friday afternoon after a traffic accident in Hayward, according to authorities.
The wreck happened at about 3:15 p.m. on Interstate 880 near the Alvarado Niles Road exit.
Authorities said the officer was riding his motorcycle in northbound lanes of Interstate 880 when for an unknown reason he collided with a Toyota.

The officer sustained moderate injuries and was transported a hospital. He was later discharged and was expected to spend the next few weeks recovering at home.
According to the authorities, the unidentified officer was police business when the collision happened.
The crash caused the closure of all northbound lanes of I-880 until around 3:50 p.m.
The crash remains under investigation.
