Woman Critically Injured in Madera Bicycle Crash on Raymond Road near Road 28 1/4

Madera, California (April 11, 2019) – A bicyclist was struck and critically injured by a vehicle last week Thursday night in Madera, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The accident took place at around 8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 4 on Raymond Road, just north of Road 28 1/4.
According to the CHP, a homeless woman was riding her bicycle westbound on Raymond Road in the dark when she was hit by a 2007 Prius driven by a 21-year-old Madera woman.

The bicyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, was thrown to the pavement of the eastbound lane. Reportedly, she had no light or reflectors on the bike
The woman sustained critical injuries and was taken to Community Regional Medical Center. As of Monday, she had reportedly been placed on life support. Her name has not been released pending notification of family.
The driver of the Prius stopped at the scene after the crash.
An investigation into the crash is underway.
