Ciara Villegas ID’d as Pregnant Woman Critically Hurt in Rio Linda Pedestrian Accident on M Street near 4th Avenue

Rio Linda, California (April 10, 2019) – The pregnant woman who was injured after being struck by a vehicle Monday night in Rio Linda has been identified as Ciara Villegas, 23, according to a local news source.
The accident was reported just after 8:00 p.m. Monday, April 8, on M Street near 4th Avenue.
The CHP said a Jeep driven by Ronny Ward III, 23, drifted off to the right shoulder of the roadway and crashed into a parked Chevrolet Impala.
The impact of the crash pushed the Impala into Villegas, who was standing in front of the car.

Villegas, who was six months pregnant, sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where she was listed in critical condition. Doctors reportedly performed “C” section to deliver her son, Ricky, who is also listed in critical condition.
Ward was arrested on suspicion of DUI and driving with a suspended license.
The incident remained under investigation.
