Marie Beckman Struck and Killed by Car on Arden Way in Carmichael
Marie Beckman ID’d as One of Elderly Women Killed in Carmichael Pedestrian Accident on Arden Way
Sacramento, California (March 27, 2019) – Authorities have identified the second elderly woman who was struck and killed by a vehicle Friday morning in Carmichael as Marie Beckman, 72, of Carmichael.
The tragic accident took place at about 9:30 a.m. Friday, March 22, on Arden Way.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Beckman and the other victim, identified as Peggy McClendon, 72, Carmichael, were walking along the right shoulder of Arden Way when they were both hit by a westbound vehicle driven by a 16-year-old girl.
The CHP said the teen drifted into the right shoulder and struck the two women who were walking on the shoulder.

Beckman and McClendon sustained major injuries and were both transported to a hospital, where McClendon died Friday while Beckman succumbed to her injuries on Saturday.
The teenage motorist stopped at the scene and complied with the investigators. Neither alcohol nor drugs were considered as factors in the crash.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
