Hispanic Man Killed in Monterey County Pedestrian Accident on U.S. Highway 101 near Gonzales

Monterey County, California (March 26, 2019) – A man was struck and killed by a vehicle Monday night near the city of Gonzales in unincorporated Monterey County, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The tragic accident occurred at about 9:10 p.m. Monday, March 25 on U.S. Highway 101, just south of the highway’s junction with Gloria Road.
According to the CHP, the man was attempting to cross the southbound lanes of U.S. Highway 101 when he was hit by a 2007 Volkswagen Rabbit driven by a 20-year-old San Luis Obispo man.

The pedestrian, only identified as a Hispanic man, was declared dead at the scene.
Alcohol or drugs were not considered factors in the accident.
The CHP is investigating the cause of the accident.
