Rosa Lua Dies in Santa Rosa Crash on Highway 101 near River Road

Santa Rosa, California (March 23, 2019) – 45-year-old Rosa Lua has been identified as the driver who died in a traffic accident that was caused by an alleged DUI driver Wednesday night in Santa Rosa, according to a local news source.

The two-vehicle collision was reported at around 11:00 p.m. March 20, on Highway 101 south of River Road.

The suspected DUI driver, identified as 31-year-old Fernando Aguilera, of Santa Rosa, was driving a Ford Fusion southbound on Highway 101 when he slammed into the back of a Honda Civic driven by Lua. The Civic stopped after it smashed into a fence and a tree off the roadway.

Lua was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

The police arrested Aguilera and detained him at the Sonoma County Jail. The suspect was charged with gross vehicular manslaughter while under the influence of alcohol and drugs.

The investigation is ongoing.
