Santa Maria, California (March 22, 2019) – Three people were hurt in an accident that involved two vehicles in Santa Maria Thursday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The collision, which took place at around 10:46 a.m. March 21, occurred on US Highway 101 just north of Betteravia Road.

An elderly driver identified as an 82-year-old Nipomo woman was reportedly driving the wrong way on the Highway when she collided head-on with an oncoming vehicle. Due to the impact, one of the involved vehicles overturned onto its roof.

As per the reports, two people were trapped inside the overturned vehicle. The victims were extricated by the firefighters who rushed to the scene shortly after the crash. The identities of the two injured parties were not revealed to this time.

The 82-year-old woman was also injured in the crash.  All three victims were transported to Marian Regional Medical Center for treatment.

No further details concerning the accident were provided.

The police are carrying out an investigation into the collision.
