West Covina, CA: Deadly Two-Vehicle Accident on San Bernardino (10) Freeway near Barranca Street

West Covina, California (March 19, 2019) – One person was killed in a deadly two-car collision suspected to have be caused by a suspected drunk driver in West Covina on Sunday night, according to the CHP.

The crash occurred at about 9:50 p.m. March 17, on San Bernardino (10) Freeway near Barranca Street.

CHP said a 1998 Ford Explorer was traveling at an unsafe speed on westbound 10 Freeway when it crashed into the rear of a 2002 Nissan Altima.

The impact caused the Ford to overturn and came to a rest on its top.

Elderly Man Dies in West Covina Crash on 10 Freeway

An elderly man riding as a passenger in the Ford was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was taken to a hospital with a serious head injury.

The driver of the Nissan was treated for moderate injuries.

The driver of the Ford was placed under arrest on suspicion of DUI.

The cause of the collision remained under investigation.
