11 Children Injured in Bakersfield School Bus Accident at 17th street and Chester Avenue

Bakersfield, California (March 13, 2019) – Eleven children were injured Wednesday morning in a traffic accident involving a Bakersfield City School District bus at an intersection in downtown Bakersfield, a local news source reported.
The wreck happened at about 8:30 a.m. at the intersection of 17th street and Chester Avenue.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the bus carrying 40 to 50 kids was traveling westbound on 17th street when it entered the intersection and hit a vehicle that was heading northbound on Chester Avenue.

Eleven kids suffered minor injuries in the crash. Several of them were rushed to a nearby hospital while others were treated at the scene.
Both vehicles acquired minor damaged in the accident. Another BCSD bus was sent to transport the uninjured kids to their original destination of Franklin Elementary.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
