Calexico Man Killed in San Diego Big Rig Crash on Interstate 5 near Imperial Avenue
San Diego, California (February 26, 2019) – A 21-year-old driver was killed in an accident involving a big rig on Monday afternoon in the East Village neighborhood of San Diego, the California Highway Patrol said.
The incident was reported at about 1:00 p.m. February 25, on Interstate 5 Freeway near Imperial Avenue.
Police said a 21-year-old Calexico man was driving a car southbound on the freeway when he swerved and struck a disabled truck that was stopped for repair of its flat tire.
The car driver was declared dead at the scene. His name was not released pending notification of the next of kin.
The crash remains under investigation.
