Meghan Martzen, Scott Martzen Injured in Fatal Selma Crash on Rose Avenue at Bethel Avenue

Selma, California (February 25, 2019) – Two people were hurt when a suspected drunk driver slammed into a car they were riding in, leaving their son dead on Saturday night near Selma, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Meghan Martzen, 29, and Scott Martzen, 33, were hurt in the fatal accident that was reported just after 10:00 p.m. February 23, on Rose Avenue at Bethel Avenue.
As per the CHP report, Scott was driving a Kia Optima eastbound on Rose Avenue when Karmjit Singh, 35, ran the light on northbound Bethel Avenue at speeds near 100 mph. The front of Singh’s BMW 750i hit the passenger side of the Optima and landed on its wheels in a dry irrigation canal. The Optima slammed into a tree.
As a result of the crash, Meghan and Scott sustained broken bone injuries. They were taken to Selma Hospital for treatment. Their 8-year-old son who was sitting in the right rear passenger seat sustained life-threatening injuries and he was rushed to Selma Hospital before being airlifted to Valley Children’s Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Singh was arrested and taken to Community Regional Medical Center where a blood sample was taken.
The crash remains under investigation.
