Cheree Sowell Dies, Daniel Kaseforth Arrested after Lancaster Car Crash on Highway 138

Lancaster, California (February 8, 2019) – One person died and several others were injured in a multi-vehicle collision that led to the arrest of one of the drivers on Thursday afternoon in Lancaster.
According to the CHP, the collision was reported just before 5:00 p.m. February 7 at the intersection of Highway 138 and 60th Street West.
CHP said Daniel Kaseforth, 34, of Lancaster, was driving a 2007 Ford southbound on 60th Street West when he collided with a 2006 Scion that was stopped at a stop sign at the intersection. The impact pushed the Scion into the intersection and was struck by a 2018 Ford F-150 heading west on State Route 138. The 2007 Ford also crashed into the Ford F-150.
The driver of the Scion, identified as Cheree Sowell, 29, of Rosamond, Kern County, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Two people were airlifted to a hospital while three others were transported by ambulances. The victims had injuries ranging from broken arms and cuts to complaints of pain.
CHP said alcohol was suspected to be a factor in the crash and Kaseforth was taken into custody.
The incident is under investigation.
